Rangatahi Ambassadors
“Ka Pu te Ruha – Ka Hao te Rangatahi”
When the old net is cast aside, the new net goes fishing. This proverbial saying refers to the younger generation taking up the reigns left by their elders.
Rangatahi Ambassadors
The National Rangatahi Ambassadors promote an authentic rangatahi voice in leadership and connectivity to build resilience against rangatahi self-harm and suicide in New Zealand.
Rangatahi Ambassadors participate in project-based learning, under the kaupapa of Rangatahi Ora at Te Rau Ora which includes suicide prevention, youth leadership and health promotion. As contemporary Māori leaders they are more poised to place the values of their tīpuna to the fore.
Key strategies include:
- Building rangatahi peer capacity and capabilities
- Identifying key areas of focus and initiating action
- Contributing and supporting rangatahi led projects in communities, events, conferences, and summits
