Advanced Online Hua Oranga Training – September 2024

This training is for facilitators of the IPMHA training for Health Improvement Practitioners (HIP), Health Coach (HC) and Support Workers (SW); and is open to Practitioners and team leaders who have completed the Hua Oranga online training and would like to extend their skills and understanding of the Hua Oranga.

Event Highlights

Special Update by Dr Andre McLachlan

  • Differentiate Western concepts of a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model with the foundational Māori perspectives of a whare and Te Whare Tapa Whā.
  • Explore developments around a fifth factor within the Hua Oranga – Te Taha Taiao.
  • Get insights into the development of a Hua Oranga phone app.

Introduction to Pari Kawa – Live Skills Feedback App

  • An interactive session to showcase and guide participants to use the Pari Kawau app.
  • Access and download the app here.

Clinical and Cultural Practices Overview

  • Learn about important clinical and cultural practices related to introducing, administering, and interpreting the results of the Hua Oranga.

Pod Work (online)

  • Engage in practice sessions in small groups of three, facilitated by Te Rau Ora. These sessions focus on practical application—practice, practice, practice!
  • Participants are required to have access to a private space and necessary equipment, including a webcam. Also, ensure the Pari Kawau app is installed on your phone.

Prerequisites

  • Completion of the Hua Oranga online training.
  • Download and have the Pari Kawau app accessible on your phone.
  • Have access to a webcam and private space for the duration of the training.
