Nōku Te Ao – Education for Social Change

Nōku te Ao is a social movement to end prejudice and discrimination and increase inclusion for people with experience of mental distress.  It is a multi-level programme, based on kaupapa Māori principles, with national campaigns and communications, media monitoring and community-led social movement activities, education, and social action grants.

Te Rau Ora, in partnership with Te Kete Pounamu, have been selected as the lead agencies to design, develop, and implement the Nōku Te Ao Education for Social Change approach.   The work commenced in September 2021 with the completion of a discovery phase and engagement with networks of people living with experience of mental distress.   The development of educational resources and materials is underway.
