Midlands region covers Te Tai Rāwhiti, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Lakes and Waikato. The Midlands regional rōpū meet quarterly and these are nga Kopara o Te Rito, which are the whānau and consumer representatives from those districts. The other rōpū are called Te Huinga o ngā Pou, which is made up of Māori leaders within their district. From these organisations, they will nominate one representative from each district, to sit on the Te Kete Pounamu ki Midlands steering rōpū.
Herewini Rangi has already been nominated for the Te Tai Rāwhiti region and we are awaiting the other four regions to come forward with their nominee. There is an awareness within these consumer groups of the Terms of Reference that are the founding principles for who we are as Te Kete Pounamu.
