Tū Kotahi is an innovative programme that we are currently piloting across four secondary schools in Auckland. The programme led by young people fosters a Whole of School Approach with a specific interest in a student’s emotional, mental, social wellbeing and resilience.
The team includes young leaders employed as youth champions, alongside a team leader, registered health professionals, and support from key partners. We are observing firsthand four dynamic secondary schools, who are dedicated and go over and beyond for their students’ wellbeing. Inside these schools are recruited student leaders, alongside dedicated school pastoral care teams and staff, who are building the momentum for strong youth to youth support networks; with these an increase in access to positive role models for students and increased access to help when needed. Early insights are showing the potential of what can be accomplished through the power of working together, for the wellbeing of young people.
