Te Au Team celebrated World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th September 20 with a cycle around the globe challenge which we adapted to “Eke Pahikara O Aotearoa, cycling from our Northernmost office of Te Rau Ora in Te Tai Tokerau down to our furthest office South in Ōtepoti.
Setting a target of 1890km. We ended up amending our course and went from North Three Kings down to Stewart Island. We cycled 2514 KM. We supported this cause as a Team for the kaupapa of suicide prevention and postvention – and we know how important this kaupapa is. We had many supports from our Te Rau Ora staff across the motu, Wera Steppers from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa Hamilton, whānau and friends, who helped us with this undertaking.
We collaborated with Anytime Fitness Hamilton who were able to support our efforts and sponsor us with spin bikes in the office! And free access to the Gym during this time. It was great to mahitahi as a team, motivate each other, share positive messages and raise awareness of suicide prevention among whānau and friends.
