I hail from the deep south of New Zealand where I am currently the regional lead for Te Kete Pounamu and have recently been appointed to the National Rōpū.
I have faced many challenges in mental health, addiction and also in the learning disability space. The first alarm bells rang for me as a three-year-old.
I have been privileged to meet hundreds of other people that have similar challenges over the years. I am extremely honoured to have been given this opportunity to not only share my own experiences but also be the conduit voice of Māori in a forum that is looking forward and will assist in better outcomes in identity, connection and ultimately faith.
