Many of you know we rebranded from Te Rau Matatini to Te Rau Ora this year. To accompany this change, we developed two new websites. Our main website, Te Rau Ora, will provide information about what we are doing to strengthen Māori health and wellbeing. Please also check our news, events, and our work pages regularly. In addition to the range of website links at the bottom of the main page.
The second website is Te Au: Centre for Māori Suicide Prevention and Postvention.
Te Rau Ora hosts Waka Hourua: Māori and Pasifika Suicide Prevention Programme and works in partnership with Le Va, who is the lead for Pasifika Suicide Prevention.
Key objectives of Te Au include:
- Building the capacity and capability of Māori whānau, hapū, iwi, and communities, to prevent suicide and to respond safely and effectively when and if suicide occurs
- Ensuring that culturally relevant education and training are available to Māori whānau, hapū, iwi, and communities that focus on building resilience and leadership
- Building the evidence base of what works for Māori whānau, hapū, iwi, and communities to prevent suicide, through research carried out by, with and for these groups
- Building leadership for suicide
