An increasing proportion of the Māori health and disability workforce has a strong foundation in te reo me ōna tikanga (language and protocols) and māutauranga Māori (Māori knowledge). This workforce tends not to possess the qualifications to honour this knowledge base or skills.
Te Rau Ora are creating two new qualifications and programmes for the Māori Workforce: Mātauranga Māori Specialist and Kaitiakitanga (Mātauranga Māori based Cultural Supervision).
Consultation hui will invite Māori to kōrero (discuss) about the need for these qualifications and what the Māori sector believe should be included in the curriculum. Please watch our Te Rau Ora Facebook for Consultation Hui dates or contact Sarah.Kinred@terauora.com
