Enhancing Access & Choice in Māori Communities: Kaitiaki Ahurea
If you are a professional/kaimahi working in mental health, addiction, or primary care in Māori communities or with Māori whānau, and you are looking for a professional development opportunity to enhance your engagement with Māori. You will be interested in Kaitiaki Ahurea, a free three-day wānanga that is NZQA level 2 accredited being delivered at local Marae in 2020.
The course consists of:
Wānanga Timatanga (Two days) – where whanaungatanga, ako (learning) and kōrero will take place
Wānanga Whakaotinga (One day ) – where participants (in groups) will present their understandings from the two days of learning, as part of their overall course assessment
Kōrero from previous participants:
The overall training reinforced the importance of relationships and that there is never a one size fits all approach
The programme activities were strength-based and reinforced positive, strong Māori role models
