Barry has a proven background in Governance, executive, operational and project management, particularly specialising in the Indigenous addiction and mental health services that are enhanced by ‘Lived-Professional’ experiences.

Barry has a comprehensive understanding of the roles of the non-government organisations, health and community sector. He is known to be a strong team leader with the ability to motivate others, particularly with innovative thinking.

Barry is involved in various networks within the Māori and Pacific people’s communities. He is Deputy Chair of Te Rau Ora, Director of the International Indigenous Council for Healing our Spirit Worldwide, Patron of the Journal of Indigenous Wellbeing: Te Mauri – Pimatisiwin, Chair of Counties Manukau Maori Research Review Committee and Co-Chair of Manawhenua i Tāmaki Makaurau that sits in partnership with the Counties Manukau District Health Board.

He has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships.
