The aim is to sharpen and influence Māori practice implementation across service delivery and the health system in the mental health and addiction sector. \nThe principles of our tikanga\, our ancient practices as Māori and our unique ways of knowing and being\, create a solid foundation for successful outcomes for our people. Deliberate Effective Māori Practice is at the heart of Āku Tangi Kōrero\, Āku Tangi Tikanga e. \nThe first part of the wānanga will take a principle-based approach to refine practice to ensure the ‘objective is clear to see as there are no obstacles to obscure’; He rangi paihuarere e ari ana te kitea o te maunga; A cloudless sky means the mountain is clearly visible. \nThe second part of the wānanga introduces ARI\, a reflective tool designed to conscientise deliberate\, effective Māori practice. E ari ake ana ngā tohu o te rangatira; Recognise the signs of rangatira; tohu rangatira – kōrero rangatira rongo rangatira\, mahi rangatira. \nFull attendance is eligible for 20 DAPAANZ (CPD) Points

SUMMARY:Pae Tata Pae Tawhiti Workshop - Waikato
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT \nPae Tata Pae Tawhiti is a mātauranga Māori centred training. This workshop explores the framework and how to apply it to clinical practice. \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nPae Tata Pae Tawhiti is an early intervention framework to engage with whānau and explore and address mild to moderate mental health concerns and alcohol and other drug concerns \nThis framework has been developed by Dr Andre McLachlan – Ngāti Apa\, Muaūpoko and Dr Waikaremoana Waitoki – Ngāti Hako\, Ngāti Mahanga. The training introduces a range of resources\, practice tools and mātauranga Māori informed approaches to understand wellbeing and challenges\, and to develop a pathway to wellbeing. \nPae Tata Pae Tawhiti is a two day training. One day (8hrs) self directed online (completed prior to attending in person workshop) and a one day in person skills workshop. \nThis Pae Tata Pae Tawhiti workshop is intended as a guide for practitioners who work in a range of primary mental health settings from Whānau Ora\, health and community based social services. This can involve practitioners from a range of professions including (but not limited to): Whānau Ora navigators; Drug and Alcohol Practitioners; Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPS); Health coaches; Awhi Ora support workers; Community Health Workers; Peer Support Workers; Nurses; Midwives and Social Workers.
