We are one of the smallest and most unique Primary Health Organisations (PHO) in New Zealand. Ngāti Porou Hauora is a charitable trust, and the only Māori owned and operated hospital in the world.

Te Hiringa Matua (Pregnancy and Parenting Service)
Te Hiringa Matua provide support for mama, hapu mama and their Whānau dealing with drug and alcohol issues using Mahi-a-Atua and matauranga Māori. Our team of Mataora is a mix of social workers and traditional Māori artists providing support through ‘wananga’ and individual follow-up in the community.

Our wananga include – Purakau (Histories and Story-sharing), Karakia/Waiata (Ancient Prayer/Rituals), Mau rakau (Traditional Māori Weaponary), Taonga Puoro (Traditional Māori Musical Instruments), Nga Mahi a Rehia (Performing Arts), Mirimiri/Romiromi (Traditional Māori Therapies).

Te Hiringa Matua is governed with Hauora Tairāwhiti, Ngāti Porou Hauora, Te Whare Hauora Te Aitanga a Hauiti and Te Hauora O Turanganui a Kiwa Ltd.
